Richard Levine, Managing Partner

Since admission to the bar in 1986, Rich Levine has earned a reputation for professional excellence in litigation, including personal injury and commercial litigation, corporate formations and transactions (mergers, acquisitions, asset purchases/sales, corporate development), intellectual property (licensing, copyright, and trademark), and estate planning.  Rich has served hundreds of clients within Colorado and California, and several other states as well.

Recent experience includes: two trials with verdicts in excess of 1 million dollars; development of two medical centers; successful defense of licensed medical practitioners in both administrative and judicial matters; advice and implementation of corporate structures (franchise, LLC and C corporations); all commercial transactions (contracts, PPMs, licenses, incorporations and intellectual property).

In addition to the practice of law, Rich serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado (2005 to Present). Rich teaches two courses (Constitutional Law, and Intellectual Property for Engineers and Artists) in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences division. These courses have become exceptionally popular on campus attracting capacity lecture-hall enrollment, and presenting uniquely challenging and stimulating academic issues.  Rich receives top-marks among the students as an exceptional faculty member, and has been nominated as a finalist for Faculty of the Year.

In addition to Colorado School of Mines, Mr. Levine has served as a faculty member at the University of Denver, as an Adjunct Professor of Law and Literacy in the Law and Society program for the DU Women’s College.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (Business)

Event Management Group, Inc.,  Evergreen, Colorado President, (1994 to 2005):  Consulting and management services, including international licensing, television programming production and rights, and governmental relations to clients staging and promoting large-scale events and project development:

  • Korean War Veterans’ Memorial dedication (Smithsonian Mall, Washington, DC);

  • LPGA tournaments (5);

  • World Pro Ski Tour (US and International);

  • USA Olympic Volleyball tours (men’s and women’s – indoors);

  • Civic development initiatives (Jefferson County, CO, and New Orleans, LA).

National Pro Fastpitch, LLC (Official Affiliate of Major League Baseball and ESPN), Denver, Colorado (1999 -2004), President and CEO.  Responsible for transition of league to national profile alongside strategic partners (Major League Baseball and ESPN) on women’s sports initiative.  Administration of all league functions, including player relations, league sponsorship, licensing and merchandising programs.

USA Soccer Ventures (1991 to 1996):  World Cup USA 1994 (GM/General Counsel); Major League Soccer (GM Colorado Rapids), Responsible for creation and implementation of: all licensing, merchandising and sponsorship matters; management of entertainment properties/products.  Supervised office staff of twenty-five employees plus all agents/contractors.  Additional responsibilities included: negotiation of all stadia leases; evaluation of venue host sites; Executive Producer of the Official Film; local television contracts (Denver).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (Private Law Practice)

Brown & Wood; Pettit & Martin, San Francisco, CA

Associate, 1988 -1991:  Civil litigation with emphasis on commercial litigation, real estate, intellectual property and banking.  Experience includes: defense trial verdict against a multi-million dollar claim arising from a real estate development project; negotiation of complex commercial transactions; bond and municipal finance review; headed the intellectual property practice group managing anti-counterfeiting on behalf of clients such as Rolex and Ford Motor Company.  Lead associate counsel on behalf of the federal government against the former officers and directors of failed savings and loan association (resolved in favor of government of more than $75,000,000).

Lillick, McHose & Charles (now Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro), San Diego, CA

Associate, 1986-1988:  Trial and appellate work on behalf of wide range of corporate clients in matters involving personal injury, commercial transactions, intellectual property, constitutional law, and securities.  Extensive involvement in maritime matters (insurance defense of personal injury claims), including matters in Central America and the South Pacific region.

INTERNATIONAL LAW:

Direct experience with international matters in Brazil; Panama; England; Switzerland, and; Russia.  Licensing negotiation in 120 foreign countries.
